MSC in Immunology and Global Health wins GradIreland Award Scientists at NUI Maynooth and our clinical collaborators in Beaumont hospital are leaders in Immunology research, designing new vaccines, adjuvants and therapeutics for neonatal and other diseases linked to poverty. However we recognise that to convert our discoveries from academic findings to health practice requires different skills. That’s why we have teamed up with geographers, anthropologists, mathematicians and representatives from NGOs working in the developing world to offer the M.Sc Immunology and Global health. This taught masters course will train students to understand both the latest scientific research and the mechanisms of implementation relating to vaccines and infectious disease. It is suitable for both professional and personal development and will be an excellent platform to launch or enhance professional careers. More information ..
Combat disease and Poverty ConsortiumThe Combat Diseases of Poverty Consortium (CDPC) is an exciting initiative funded through ‘The Programme of Strategic Co-Operation between Irish Aid and Higher Education and Research Institutes’, in collaboration with the Higher Education Authority (HEA).
The CDPC brings together scientific, academic, NGO and private sector expertise to build educational and research capacities for combating diseases of poverty. It networks researchers across geographical borders and disciplines, in order to foster scientific exchange, opportunities for research collaborations and to ultimately deliver new insights and workable solutions to pressing health concerns. Maynooth Postgraduate MasterclassOpportunities for postgraduates to present data (or even get posters viewed) are diminishing as the numbers of post-doctoral fellows increases. Five years ago it was possible for a second year postgraduate student to know every Immunologist in the country, as research teams grow and become more successful, the opportunities for postgraduate students to genuinely network are decreasing. To rectify this situation, the Institute launched the Maynooth Postgraduate Masterclass, where we invite Irish (and some international) Immunology postgrads to present early stage data to a world leading Immunologist. The atmosphere is informal, our goal is for you to network and make connections that will support you as your career develops and allows you to discuss your data.
